You can transfer all your old .pst files from your outlook into the new email application on Windows Vista, Windows Mail. The process can be done by using the Windows Easy transfer application on Vista, you can access this by;

Open your welcome center (type welcome in your start menu)
Click transfer files and settings
Click continue in [...]

Do you need to compact a specific .pst file in your Outlook.  it is very simple to do, just follow these points;

Click Start and point to Settings
Click Control Panel
Double-click Mail
Click Data Files
Click the .pst file that you want to compress
Click Settings
Click Compact Now
